The JA Organization
Since 1919, Junior Achievement has helped young
people recognize how their talents and abilities can create better lives for
themselves and those around them. JA's sequential and integrated
kindergarten through grade 12 programs help young people use information, apply
basic skills, think critically, and solve complex problems.
JA brings volunteers from the community
face-to-face with students for the simplest of human interaction --
sharing. Classroom volunteers make economic concepts relevant, fuel the
entrepreneurial spirit, and challenge students to excel.
JA's unique delivery system provides the
training, materials, and support necessary to ensure a positive experience.
Our Programs
JA's Elementary School Program is a series of
seven themes that help kindergarten through sixth-grade students learn about the
U.S. economic system. Concept and skills taught at each grade level build
on those taught in preceding grades.
JA's Middle School Programs are for students in
grades seven through nine. Students examine how businesses operate in the
U.S. economic system and explore career interests and opportunities.
JA's High School Programs help students in grades
nine through twelve gain insights into the complexities and rewards of the U.S.
free enterprise system.
JA students demonstrated a significant
understanding of economics and business concepts -- particularly those who
participated at consecutive grade levels, as determined by independent
evaluators.
Volunteers serve as role models to help young
people better understand economic concepts in order to become successful in the
workplace and in life.
Businesses, foundations, and individuals support
JA because it teaches students about economics and business and because JA's
positive impact is measurable.
Teachers welcome Junior Achievement's resources
because they enhance the learning environment and reinforce the classroom
curricula.
